Getting On Google - Being Found

It's important for your website to be picked up by the major search engines such as Google and Yahoo.  In addition, it's critical that your site is found when potential customers enter search terms into these sites. 

When we start the design process,  we will need the following information to get you Found on the Web:

• A list of 15-20 key words such as "Raku Pottery, Ruth Apter, Ceramics..."
• One short sentence that defines your products and services.
• One short paragraph that describes your products and services in detail.

The latter two points above should include the most important key words from the first item.

Olympic Mists Web Services will nominate your website for inclusion at Yahoo and Google.  This process can take as long as 4-6 weeks so it's important to start this process as soon as the website begins to take shape.  I also recommend that each website owner goes to a non-profit site called "Open Directory Project" (www.dmoz.org) where you nominate yourself for inclusion.  All major search engines use his site as a starting point.

Finally, Google and Yahoo, offer a paid service where you can pay to have your website on the top of the page when people enter your search terms. Prices vary widely with the search terms selected.
